Aberaeron is a small harbour town on the Ceredigion coast, in West Wales. It is most famous for its lovely Georgian houses, all painted different colours. And this is your chance to stay in one!
In the interests of full disclosure, I know the owners of this house, but this is not an ad/paid for recommendation. It is simply a seriously lovely place to stay! Be sure to tell them you found them here, if you book.

THE LOCATION
Not only does this lovely house allow you to stay in one of the famous pastel painted houses of Aberaeron, Brynamlwg is located on Belle Vue Terrace, which runs along the side of the harbour giving lovely sea views and looking out directly onto the painted houses on the other side of the water. If the Harbourmaster Hotel has the loveliest views of the hotels in Aberaeron, then Brynamlwg is the self catering alternative!
The house is just a short walk – around half a mile – into the centre of Aberaeron, and its cafes and restaurants.
THE ROOMS
There are three bedrooms – two doubles and one children’s bedroom including bunk beds with a view the grown ups will be very jealous of! All the bedrooms have gorgeous traditional Welsh “tapestry” woven textiles.
THE EXTRAS
The communal areas – large kitchen, dining room, TV/reading room, summer room and living room – are all spacious, cosy and comfortable. It is hard to choose between the lovely nook with arm chairs or the gorgeous living room looking out onto Aberaeron’s pastel hued harbour! The kitchen is extremely well equipped.
The house has a private garden out the back, so in the warmer summer months, when you aren’t gazing out at the harbour there is plenty of space for evening drinks or dinner outside.
Dog friendly, and baby cot and high chair available for use.
THE LESS LOVEABLE
The main downside of Brynamlwg is more about Aberaeron itself, rather than the lovely house… this part of West Wales takes a long time to get to from London, meaning that we are able to visit far less frequently than we would like! More seriously, Aberaeron is not especially well served by public transport, so you will need your own vehicle to stay here.
